Thermal Rubber Pads are typically made from a relatively high durometer, silicone-based material filled with thermally conductive materials like aluminum oxide or boron nitride. Additionally, thermal pads can be reinforced by fiberglass or another sheet like material to increase tear resistance of the material. This makes Thermal Rubber pads a robust and compliant replacement for thermal interface hardware.

Transtherm® Thermally Conductive Silicone Rubber and Silicone-Free Rubber materials combine high thermal conductivity and electrical isolation into a single component. Transtherm® Rubber interface materials benefit from the higher thermal conductivity of aluminum oxide particles, but still maintain high dielectric strength even at high temperatures.

Most Transtherm® Silicone Rubbers and Silicone-Free Rubbers are available with a mechanical reinforcement option, typically woven fiberglass, for additional mechanical stability. Most Rubber Thermal Pads have a high durometer and take large amount of force to deform the shape and thickness of the pad. This makes thermal pads an ideal reusable thermal interface material. Resolve dry out, cracking, and silicone migration issues by replacing mica and thermal grease applications with cleaner and reproducible rubber materials.

Thermally Conductive Rubber can easily be converted and laminated with other products to create a combined thermal interface material pad and electrical isolation solution ready for installation into customer applications.

Boyd’s Transtherm® Silicone Rubbers and Silicone-Free Rubbers conform with REACH and RoHS regulations.
